Why Holistic Nutrition?

Food is here to bring us Joy, Health, Connection, Medicine, Balance and Community. If we are feeling out of balance, or lacking in any of these areas, our relationship to food is an incredibly powerful and accessible place to begin changing that. Food impacts every aspect of our lives from our mood and mental health, to our physical capacity and recovery, to inflammation and our immune system, even our sense of  community and place. After all, sharing food with the people we love is meant to be a universal source of joy.  If we feel happy and healthy and strong through the food we eat, life becomes easier, more joyful and more beautiful. Our nourishment is our very foundation. When we feel at home in our bodies it is so much easier to know our purpose and to act from that place.

What is a Holistic Nutritionist ?

A Holistic Nutritionist is interested in integrating the physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, environmental and nutritional aspects of one’s life. They focuses on personal responsibility and power, and rely on a cooperative relationship between practitioner and client. A holistic nutritionist guides individuals, families and groups using food as medicine for the body, mind and spirit, to bring them into greater balance, harmony, healing and vitality in all the areas of their lives. Whole Foods, traditional herbs, nutrient supplements (when needed), and lifestyle practices can and should support all the foundational elements of a healthy life: stress management, sleep, exercise, healing, community, environment, relationships, energy, creativity, culture, peace of mind and spirituality, to name a few. Holistic nutrition views the individual as a community of relationships that are seeking health, harmony and vitality, and supports any area(s) in need to bring about that health and balance.
